Fueling Time for Hummingbirds

 Hummingbirds migrate great distances.

That’s why they fuel up this time of year.

Soon they will be traveling up to 500 miles a day. For thousands of miles.

So clean and fill your feeders. The hummingbirds will appreciate your effort!

New Knee

Things are bit quiet at e-Awakening.com. Dan just got a new knee. He was unable to walk or stand for very long.

So Marilyn is taking care of our feathered and furry friends at the Wild Life Sanctuary…and she is taking care of Dan too!

In the meanwhile preserve and protect nature!

And take a cruise around our website.

Groundhog is winning!

Marilyn captured the baby groundhog getting at the lemon cucumber plants in this iPhone video.

We eliminated the hard fence which the groundhog was getting under.

And we wrapped the top piece of chicken wire so it was snug but floppy.

Now we are adding a few stakes to keep it flopping out instead of in.

But we concede to Mr. Groundhog with all due respect and challenge him/her to a duel over next years crop of lemon Cucumbers. This years leaves are pretty much devoured.

Gentle farmers Farm and Wildlife Sanctuary

Everyone needs to eat.

Even baby Groundhogs!

But we don't want them eating our cucumber plants which they love with a passion.

So we build our fence bigger and bigger till it is big enough.

Preserving and protecting Nature is protecting all the plants, animals, insects, birds, aquatic life, and humans too! The whole Earth. It doesn't work unless it works together.

Here is a brief video from Dan and Marilyn. Dan on camera and Marilyn as videographer extraordinaire.

Art at an Early Age

 Above the mantel hangs,

A paint by number smeared.

Outside the lines it blurred like the Artist's early years.

The oil waiting to dry made the painting something other.

It created a kind of pride in a boy who was special…to his beloved Grandmother!

Thanks for believing in me Nana...

Angel Mushroom

 Outside our Angel "Sanctuary Room".

Looking through our picture window on Nature.

At the old pine tree that the woodpeckers just love to pieces.

A mushroom grew!

Who's to say it isn't an Angel looking over the Wildlife we so want to protect and preserve.

Sure looks like an Angel. Look at the detail.

Love Nature!

Writing Songs

Writing Songs is Easy.

Getting anyone to hear them is the hard part.

Especially when you write the songs no one wants to hear. Like Hey Greta. Here are the words to the latest song I am working on.

What the world needs is a good cry. What we continue to do to the Earth is a Shame!

Groundhog Kiss

 I live underground.

Except when I dine in the sun.

I eat the native weeds.

And the birds and I share the seeds.

Kiss me Missy you're so shy,

Can't you see... that I'm your guy.

Oh I love you. Do you love me? I love this world. Because you're here with me now.

Zucchini Garden

Our Zucchini Garden provides an amazing meal.

It does take work and you have to make sure you water the plants and protect them from the animals.

But in the end it is worth it. Fresh vegetables about as healthy and tasty as a meal can get.

And it helps that you have a chef who knows how to cook it up!

Kitchen Gardens are fun and important to the sustainability of our future.

Blog Update

We are having a blast doing the Blog.

Just to let you know. We will not be posting everyday. But we plan to post as often as we have something worthwhile to share. Like this groundhog kiss. (There is a story about Shy and Bold)...so...

Stay tuned cause there is lots of great stuff happening in our Wildlife Sanctuary

Marilyn and I hope to bring attention to the protection and preservation of Nature as something we can all be a part of...through our Website e-Awakening.com and with The Blog.

Baby Groundhog

A resident enjoys the Apple Tree in our Wildlife Sanctuary.

We have seen a couple of baby Groundhogs feasting on the native plants in our yard.

It is great to share our yard with these really cute animals.

Marilyn explains that living with Nature is not difficult. Protecting the plants you want for your own enjoyment is easy and effective.

There is plenty to go around and going back to Nature can be going forward in evolution. And it can be so rewarding in the stress it relieves!

Blog in a video is just below.

Try it out!

Summer Squash

There is nothing like the taste of fresh from your garden...Summer Squash.

Our Squash loves the front corner of our house by the street.

And they are beautiful.

So every day we pick the best tasting Squash and love every healthy mouthful with a few of our homegrown string beans.

Wouldn’t it make sense to be able to produce our food locally? Wouldn't a more sustainable plan be in order, like permaculture, local farms and kitchen gardens?

As I savor the flavor of food that is nutritious and delicious I look at my yard in a whole new light.
